A relatively heavy explosion rocked Kabul city few minutes earlier with a thick smoke rising from the western part of the city.

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior confirmed a suicide attack has taken place in Dar-ul-Aman area of the city.

He did not disclose further information regarding the incident saying the area has been cordoned off and more details will be released later.

Deputy interior minister Gen. Ayub Salangi confirmed that four civilians were killed and twenty four others were wounded in the attack.

Earlier reports indicated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) has been detonated in the vicinity of Dar-ul-Aman area close to the Russsian embassy compound.
